Labor wins in landslide

With the majority of seats now counted, the Australian Labor Party has won the election.

Maxine McKew (ALP) beat John Howard (LIB) in the seat of Bennelong (NSW).

The break down of electorates is as follows:

  • Australian Labor Party: 83
  • Liberal Party: 48
  • Nationals: 10
  • Independent: 2
  • Still doubtful: 7
